But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.
Acts 20:24

Read this verse carefully.

I wonder how many of us could say the same thing as Paul?

…I know I can’t.

Paul gave his life to preach the gospel, and that is something I most earnestly desire to do. No, not to preach the gospel. Because in all honesty I don’t. I desire now only to have his desires to do so.

And to give up mine. To give up clinging to my foolish accomplishments, my dumb possessions, and my futile goals. As if they were actually worth something.

I pray that all who read this verse would feel the weight of the Holy Spirit as I now do in reflecting upon my own life. The weight of the jealous God, seeking the inheritance that His Son paid for on the cross- the entirety of our lives to love Him and to do His will.
