The point of social media is to craft an image of yourself and categorize it as “social” even though it is impersonal and usually deceptive.

In the end, we create a celebrity culture even among friends, where our lives our glamorized and glorified, all at the touch of a click and a swipe, neglecting the reality that no matter how much we post, no matter how exciting our lives is presented, we are just as broken as the friend who posted nothing.

Social media is a faux of real relationships.

It is contributing to what I call the inception of the “rock-star generation”, where our value is based on how many shallow social media interactions we can garner.

It makes us lonelier than ever, wondering if anyone will ever understand the wretched person I really am, if anyone can relate to the negative proclivities of my being, and if anyone is just as frail as I am.
