This undated handout image provided by the U.S. Marshals Service on December 28, 2009 shows Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Abdulmutallab, 23, is a Nigerian man suspected of attempting to blow up Northwest 253 flight as it was landing in Detroit on Christmas day.

Concerning this past week’s event of an attempted terrorist attack on Flight 253, TIME records the following:

“Passengers later said there was something curious about the spare young man
who had tried to bring down their plane: he was silent throughout the attack.
He didn’t panic. He didn’t yell any last-second religious slogans. He was calm
and methodical as he set himself on fire. It was though he had been trained.”

“2005- 2008 – [Abdulmatallab] studies mechanical engineering at University
College London, where he heads the school’s Islamic’s Society from 2006-2007″

“Numerous postings by Farouk1986, most likely written by Abdulmutallab,
reveal a struggle with loneliness and difficulty relating to others. The posts
also indicate a growing religious fervor.”

All I have to say concerning this is can be summed in the following verse by Jesus:

“Indeed, the hour is coming when whoever kills you will think he is offering service to God. And they will do these things because they have not known the Father, nor me. But I have said these things to you, that when their hour comes you may remember that I told them to you.”
John 16:2-4
