I like the days when God breaks in on your life and shows you how much you don’t know. When he breaks your perception of reality and of yourself.
Today is one of those days.
It was just a simple day at church, worshiping and fellowship. During Horizon’s ABF, Dr. Dan Green shared a passage from one of my favorite sections in Scripture, John 13-17.
This was the passage that the Lord was speaking to me about:
“If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet., you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you.”
John 13:14-15
Jesus is telling us how we should relate to one another. That we should be devoted in serving one another. Serving is a word I throw around but I guess I didn’t understand. In this pivotal point time of my life of pursuing full time ministry, the Lord is convicting me about being committed to the basics of Christianity.
I have been wrapped up in living a life of consecration, dedication to the place of prayer and intercession, reading His Word, and on and on, but sometimes forget the greatest commandment and the one just like it.
To love Jesus and to love others as I love myself.
Everything I do in life falls under these two commandments. Lord, continue to teach me how to love and serve people.
