The thing you can expect from each other is not perfection, but constant slippage. We’re going towards perfection, but we’ll never get there. The thing is… you only learn is from constant failure.
My Systematic Theology Professor lecturing on the doctrine of Original Sin
I was listening to my professor’s lecture on original sin and this was mad profound. It’s when we talk about our sinfulness that we realize that we shouldn’t expect perfection from each other.
Man church culture is sometimes so hard to live in. Visions of perfection and holiness discourage us from realizing that we are frail and broken.
I’m developing a stronger theology of imperfection and I can’t wait to write more about this.
