“As surely as the sun rises,
he will appear
he will come to us like the winter rains,
like the spring rains that water the earth.”

Hosea 6

God’s faithfulness is an amazing thing. It is often overlooked in all our religious runabouts, but ponder here for a second- it is by sheer grace and faithfulness alone that God responds every time we come before Him, whether is be in prayer, in fellowship, in worship, in preaching, or in disciple-making. Practically anything a Christian man or woman does in faith rests upon God’s faithfulness. If God withheld grace, and the rock of Christ be slipped from beneath us, we would be right where we ought to be- seated with the ungodly.

But as it is- this is not the case. More so often in my life, I find that God is as He says He is in Hosea here. What a wonderful thing- that as faithful as that morning star rises each day, so does God come to us when we call on him. That whenever I put my faith into the unseen God, “He will appear.”

But observe- there is a double blessing!

Not only is faithful in the quanity of times He shows up, this verse informs us that He is is faithful in the quality of those times. He comes to us, not as a drizzle of as droplets, but as the spring rains; for He delights in witholding back. What an outpour of blessings! And the blessing is Himself!
