“By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.”
1 John 3:10

That one word is underlined has been the cause of great conviction in these last hours. John is saying a sign of a true believer is one who practices righteousness.

Practice means putting the work in. It means making habits of godliness. It means planning to do righteous things. It means getting better at holiness. It means learning more about what is righteous and what isn’t.

Conversely, to not practice righteousness would be live life unguarded from evil. To not set up boundaries and restrictions for yourself to avoid temptation. To be lazy about righteousness and to be idle. To not grow in our understanding of what pleases the Lord and what doesn’t.

Do we know the Lord Jesus? Then are we practicing righteousness?
