“My house shall be called a house of prayer.”
Matthew 21:13
I read this passage and asked myself these questions:
If this is the activity which Jesus associates his house with, would Jesus recognize our church?
Would he be able to discern based on the incense of prayer rising up to the heavens where his churches are geographically located?
If we covered up the church signs, or any indication of the names of our church, and just walked through the church, observed our daily activities, would prayer be found as the dominant activity?
Sadly, the answer to all these questions is probably no.
We are too busy to pray, too self-sufficient, too prideful, and too faithless to commit to being the Church God called us to be, which is a House of Prayer.
