1 Peter 2:9
How do we identify ourselves?
If someone asked us “Who are you?” what factors do you think would contribute to your answer?
It is true that the most common way that we respond is by designating our cultural heritage as explaining why we are the way we are and why we carry the values we carry.
But here Peter says something so profound. He says “you are a chosen race.”
It’s profound because he’s not talking about national cultures. He’s not talking about you Jews, or you Gentiles, or you Americans, or you Asians, etc…
He is talking about those who have made Jesus their foundation as those who are the chosen race. God sees Christians as a separate race from the world. This is a race based on being born of Christ.
Praise God that he has chosen us to be part of his kingdom!
