Last night I had another dream.
In the dream, I was in a classroom. It was an upper level Biology classroom in Loyola. We deviated from a serious discussion on Biology to start speaking about a new philosophy booming. The teacher was unusually adament and excited about it. The whole classroom stirred up into a roar about it. Then a discussion came about concerning Christianity. The teacher and the students suddenly started ridiculing it and heralding this new philosophy as surpreme. So much so that he made two students stand up and made challenged them: “Christology or this new religion?! Christology or this new religion?!”
I didn’t remember the name of this new religion, but it began with a “p”. I didn’t know anything about this new religion so I whispered to a nearby student and asked him what all of this meant. He handed me a book which outlined most of the tenants of the religion. The book had a dazzling cover and on the cover wrote some things about the book. It had claims that Christianity had upgraded and the new thinkers are coming up with a new way to do life. As I was looking over the cover, the teacher rose up and began ridiculing the idea of a resurrection. He was alluding to the impossibility of the ressurection of Jesus Christ and laughing at it.
Then the floor opened up for questions. Several students said things in unison with what the professor was saying for they were already proponents of this religion prior coming to class. I decided to raise my hand to say something. The professor called on me. I started, “This type of Christianity is not a new thing. I have seen this type of deception for years and years…” And before I could finish saying anything further, the professor decided to cut me off! He wouldn’t let me finish and turned aside and started to change the subject. I was just about to share the gospel with the class, but I sat there amazed that any professsor would do this. I knew that this deceptive new philosophy would turn many away from Christ. And it was intellectually sound and convincing. But as with most false religions, they remove Jesus from the equation.
And then the dream ended.
John the Apostle writes, “every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.” (1 John 4:3)
