I know you may have never heard this as a missionary strategy, but believe me: eating is a ministry.
You’ll never go to another nation for Jesus unless you eat and enjoy their food. One of the quickest ways to win the heart of the people you’re trying to reach is by showing that you love their food.
A love for a culture’s food is a love for their culture. If you go to another country and never eat their food, locals will always see you as an outsider.
In my experience with talking with missionaries, when grappling with their calling to a nation, the way that God secured their willingness to go was to soften their stomachs towards that nation’s food!
I guess the quickest way to the heart is through the stomach after all.
And there, I rest my case for why eating is a ministry.
