Richard Foster, with an observation on the difficulties with American Christians going deep in God:

“those who have heard the distant call [for intimacy with God] deep within and who desire to explore the world of the spiritual disciplines are immediately faced with two difficulties. The first is philosophic. The materialistic base of our age has become so pervasive that it has given people great doubts about their ability to reach beyond the physical world… the second difficulty is a practical one. We simply do not know how to go about exploring the inward life.”

Richard Foster

Do we have a faith to go experientially deep into the heart of God?

And do we know how to get there?
