“The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters. Thus all the days that Adam lived were 930 years, and he died.”
Genesis 5:4-5

Adam lived 930 years. If I live to be 90, he would have 10 of my lives to live. It stirred my imagination as to what I would do if I had ten lives to live. What I could accomplish with all that time…

But the truth is, I don’t have 930 years to live… I have 70, or 80 if I have the strength (unless I get martyred!)

And I am again struck by the brevity of life. And how it is soooo worthless to be spending my days doing worthless things… (e.g. being entertained, playing video games, having excessive fun, hording riches, spending on pleasure, etc…) versus sowing into the kingdom of God, which when realized, will last forever. I realize now that every hour of my life counts, and  on the day of judgment, I will have to give an account for every bit of it.

Teach us to number our days oh Lord, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. -Psalm 90
