I’m 30,000 feet in the air. I’m on my Kindle reading “The World is Flat”, a book on globalization and how present day technologies are changing the world scene at an unprecedented rate.

The move of technology to allow huge shifts in humanity is a marvel. The fact that you can read this a minute I have posted this, and that I’m 30,000 ft in the air having books wirelessly delivered to me demonstrate bits and pieces of that change.

Humans are growing bigger and bigger in their own sight as technology is uncapping our potential, continually challenging our assumptions for what is impossible.

Yet mid-flight, a scene interrupts my awe of humanity’s progress. The stewardess announces that there is a thunderstorm looming over the Rockies and we would be able to see it on the left side of the plane.

So I put down my Kindle and peered out the window.

And before me was the most dazzling display of raw power I have ever seen–flashes of lighting illuminate the darkness, a wild and exorbitant display of power. My eyes lit before me and my jaw literally dropped as i watched at this beautiful and terrifying storm rage right outside my window.

What was that you ask? It was God flexing his pinky.

In that moment, juxtaposed between reading a book of humanity’s great and newest accomplishments was the pressing reality of the greater-ness of the Almighty. Despite having the world seemingly at our fingertips, I remembered in that moment that we are still but a few feet tall.

I was able to catch a minute of the clip. I hope you watch it and see what I’m talking about…
